I help women use traveler notebooks as simple bullet journals or as planners using pre-made inserts that are held together by elastic .
So if you are like me, you have had oodles of planners. The longest I ever used one was 6 months. I got bored with my planners. I am a planner addict. 16 months ago, I discovered bullet journaling. And a year ago, I discovered using a travel notebook (covers with elastics that hold thin insert notebooks.) The covers can be made either from leather, faux leather, paper, or fabric.
Are you a woman who wants a productive planning system, but not interested in those pretty and artistic bullet journals that you see on Instagram and Pinterest? When you visit Facebook groups on bullet journaling, you will see beautiful artwork. I ask, as a busy woman “Who has the time to create them?”
I am creative, but not artistic. I personally have limited drawing ability. I either use a ready made calendar (weekly and/or daily). or inserts. I mostly use my TN as a planner with a journal insert in the notebook.
I pick and choose my inserts to customize my planner to meet my needs. I suggest that you do the same, whether you use pre-made or create your own spreads (which is simple to do with a pen or pencil). I feel it is best to stick to a minimalist approach.
I like creating traveler notebooks which also called fauxdoris. I have decided to sell them in an Esty shop.
I love the traveler notebook planner because you can change both the covers and the inserts. When you buy or create your own, I find it hard to get bored.
Start with a calendar or future log (3 or 6 months calendar). I use a monthly and a weekly or daily spread. I feel you do not need both a weekly and a daily. I just use one at a time.
You can number your pages and keep an index, although I don’t since I’ve been using a traveler notebook.
Right now, I have a monthly, a daily, lists, business notes and a journal inserts. The beauty of this system is that that you can have whatever need or want.
I enjoy bullet journals, but mine are far from pretty. I alternate between pre-made inserts and bullet journals which are spreads that you can make yourself in a blank notebook.
In this blog, I will compare ready-made inserts to blank inserts, and consider the benefits of pre-made vs bullet journaling. If you have gone through multiple planners and have not found one that fits your needs, I suggest trying a TN (traveler notebook). Even with a ready-made, you can add notebooks for lists, notes, diaries, or brain dump journals. I love having it all in one fat notebook cover.
